With this 8 days 7 nights Uganda wildlife safari and gorilla trekking, take an adventure to the wild side of Uganda and explore the power of your dreams about African safari. From the 2000 ft high mountain forests of Bwindi to dramatic savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth NP and Rwanda’s famous history and  its volcanoes with famous gorillas in the mist, this trip will fill your travel cup.

Uganda wildlife safari and gorilla safari itinerary has been done by the groups of travelers who arrive at Entebbe Airport early in the morning and do not want to spend a night in Kampala. They also do not have a lot of time to spare but would love to see the big five, chimpanzees, boat cruises and the gorilla tracking. Because of this reason they are able to fly through Rwanda to reduce on the drive time.

For this particular 8 Days Uganda wildlife safari and gorilla trekking, it’s advisable to acquire an East African Visa that allows cross border transfer without spending much money and can be altered to suite your taste. The prices are subject to change depending on your interest.

Trip Summery

  • Day 1: Welcome to Africa, arrival at Entebbe/Uganda, transfer to Ziwa for on foot Rhinos trekking – one of the big 5,  transfer to Murchison Falls

  • Day 3: Breakfast, transfer from Murchison Falls NP to Kibale Forest the Primate capital home of Chimpanzees
  • Day 4: Am Chimpanzee Trekking and later drive to QENP home to the yet another Africa Safari experience
  • Day 5: Early coffee or tea, go for a Game drive in Kasenyi then crown the safari with a boat Cruise on Kazinga Chanel
  • Day 6: Breakfast still in Queen Elizabeth transfer to Ishasha Sector home to tree climbing lions then continue to Bwindi National park home of the Mountain Gorillas or gorillas in the mist
  • Day 7: Big day, the awaited all day Gorilla Trekking. while it is on the bucket list for most people, its a dream magical 1 hour with the mountain gorillas. Later return to your lodge in Lake Bunyonyi fulfilled

DAY 1: Kampala – Ziwa Rhinos – Murchison Falls

This Uganda wildlife safari means clients arrive with a morning flight to Entebbe airport. Our driver will Meet you at Entebbe Airport. Meet, greet and transfer directly towards Murchison falls national park, this is the largest National Park in Uganda and the world’s most powerful waterfalls. On the way to Murchison Falls National Park make a stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking.

This sanctuary striving to bring back rhinos in Uganda, covers an area of 70km2 and has over 78 park rangers and security guards who keep 24 hours watch on the Rhinos to ensure their security. The 70km2 is surrounded by 2m electric fence to keep the Rhinos in and intruders out. This sanctuary is a home to at least 40 mammals and reptilian’s species including monkeys, antelopes, hippos, crocodiles and numerous bird species adding flavor to your Uganda wildlife safari. After this amazing experience of a walk with the rhinos, you will have a rewarding delicious lunch. After Lunch, you will then drive to Murchison falls.

This is the largest national park in Uganda but its very existence is determined by the famous Murchison falls. Keep your eyes out for possible game, primates and different species of birds. You will reach at the lodge early evening where you will be welcomed and checked in, relax as you have your first African dinner marking the beginning of your Uganda wildlife safari experience in the Pearl of Africa. .

DAY 2: Murchison Morning Game Drive & Boat Safari

Start this day with an early morning quick coffee or tea, head for the game drive which is mostly conducted in the northern Nile bank of Murchison falls park. Our knowledgeable and skilled drive guide will keep their eyes open to ensure that you see am much wildlife as well as have a good bush breakfast with no rush and great Luxury African safari bush breakfast experience. The fantastic photography sessions and a wide range of animals in the Nile valley will reward your day two of your Uganda wildlife safari.

Being Uganda largest and oldest conservation area, Murchison Falls National park hosts about 76 species of mammals and about 451 species of birds. The stretch of the river provides one of Uganda’s most remarkable wildlife spectacles. Regular visitors to the river bank include elephants, giraffes and buffalo while hippos and Nile crocodiles and aquatic birds are permanent residents. The Game drive gives you chance to be our pop-up roof safari vehicles good for photography and fun experience while standing.

Your eyes come in handy to the guide driving especially when you see animals, Birds, trees and shrubs that may need identification. After this fabulous experience you will drive back to your hotel for a hot meal or have a good spot for packed lunch picnic.

After lunch drive to the start of the Launch/boat cruise on the River Nile, the launch trip upstream from Paraa presents an astonishing display of wildlife and culminates with the frontal view of the falls. This park is bisected by the Victoria Nile, which plunges 45m over the remnant rift valley wall, creating the dramatic Murchison falls.  The Launch trip is destined to the bottom of the falls which is well rewarding with wildlife.

The stretch of the river provides one of Uganda’s most remarkable wildlife spectacles. Regular visitors to the river bank include elephants, giraffes and buffalos while hippos and Nile crocodiles and aquatic birds are permanent residents. This experience would not be over until you embark on the hike to the top of the falls. This magical hike is mild and can be done by all ages and takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on speed, fitness and different interest of things.

After this fascinating and memorable experience you will meet your driver guide at the top of the falls and then start to drive back to the lodge rest as you wait for you dinner and spend a night.

Murchison River Lodge (Mid-Range)

DAY 3: Murchison Falls NP to Kibale Forest

After an early morning breakfast, you will continue your Uganda wildlife safari journey to Kibale national Park which is one of the most magnificent parks and the home of the famous Chimpanzees, man’s closest. It is the most magnificent of Uganda’s tropical rain forest and one of the most rewarding areas to explore, it boasts 13 species of primates including the localized Red Colobus, L’hoest monkeys and the endemic Uganda Manga bay.

Kibale’s major attraction is the Chimpanzees, the delightful Apes, closest to humans than any other living creature. This can be seen swinging in the tree branches as one treks through the forest trails. This park also inhabits the elusive Elephants, Buffalos, giant forest Hogs and antelopes making it one of the most stunning Parks in Uganda.

You will have lunch on the way and depending on the time of arrival, you will close this day with a fascinating community swamp walk through Bigodi where you will be able see different monkey species and lots of beautiful birds such as the Great Blue Turaco as your starter to the next day for the Chimpanzee tracking

Kibale Forest Camp (Mid-Range)

DAY 4: Chimpanzee Trekking & Drive to QENP

You will have a full breakfast, and then drive to the briefing or starting point for chimpanzee tracking where you will be briefed and grouped in numbers of maximum 8 people but sometimes you can exclusively go alone but on rare occasions. Once you have located the chimpanzees, you will spend a valuable time of 1 Hour and then transfer to the picking point.

After this amazing Uganda wildlife safari primate experience, we will then start your journey to Queen Elizabeth National park, the second largest National Park in Uganda. It is a medley of wonders because of its fabulous wildlife and many eye-catching attractions.

This beautiful park is crossed by the Equator where you will have a stopover and pose for the photos as you watch the beauty of the jagged Rwenzori ranges.  After this fascinating experience you proceed to either Mweya Peninsular or the hotel as agreed for dinner and spend an overnight.

DAY 5: Game drive in Kasenyi then boat Cruise on Kazinga Chanel

Start this fifth day of your Uganda wildlife safari day with an early morning breakfast then set off for the classic African safari in the Kasenyi tracks, the North Kazinga which offers virtually guaranteed Buffalos, Antelopes and Elephant sightings, along with warthogs. This is a rewarding game in the Kasenyi plains, this is the northern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park rich with wildlife, the game drive takes about 4-6 hours according to the season and the movement of these animals, this is a magnificent game which includes a lot to see such as Herds of Elephants, Hippos, Buffalos, Antelopes like Uganda Kobs, Dafforsa Waterbuck and much more wildlife and on lucky days see a pride of lions and the solitary Leopard. This Park is known to have the longest bird list in all East African protected National Parks, thus giving you a chance to see a lot of beautiful Savanna species.

You will then drive to Mweya Peninsular an area encircled by two water bodies that is Kazinga channel and the waters of Lake Edward leaving one way which is the entrance and the same time Exit.  This is where the majestic boat cruise on Kazinga Channel is conducted.  You will have a hot lunch before you set off for this wonderful activity which is non-other than a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel.

This is an oasis for many of the fascinating species that inhabit the park, and taking a boat trip along Kazinga Channel gives the visitors a chance to cruise just a few meters from hundreds of enormous hippos since Kazinga channel is well known for its big number of Hippos of over 4800, Crocodiles sun basking and Buffaloes while Elephants linger along the shoreline. This will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your tour. This takes about 2hours from the starting point to coming back.

You will then transfer to your hotel and as you drive keep your eyes on the game outside you may get a chance to see herds of elephants or more. Arrive at your lodge in time for relaxation dinner and overnight.

Bush Lodge (Mid-Range)

DAY 6: Queen Elizabeth – Ishasha Sector – Bwindi National park

Today you will have a relaxed Breakfast. After you will start your journey for Ishasha the home of tree climbing lions which is about 75Kms from the northern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park along the way you will meet a lot of amazing wildlife such as the Baboons, Black and white Colobus monkeys, Red tailed monkeys, velvet Monkeys and much more bird species. Upon arrival, you will start another thrilling game drive in search for the tree climbing lions but of course you will get a chance to see game starting from the big mammals to the small ones like the mongooses, reptiles like the Nile monitor Lizard and the Agama Lizards and more eye-catching bird species. Nature is unpredictable that means we cannot guarantee the sighting of the Predators but we trust our guides to do the required needful. After this memorable experience you will continue Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, check in where you will have dinner and spend an overnight.

Haven Buhoma Community Rest Camp (Mid-Range)

DAY 7: Big day, the awaited all day Gorilla Trekking

Today is the big day; our Uganda wildlife safari takes you to the gorillas. prepare yourself for an encounter with one of Bwindi’s gentle giants: the rare mountain gorilla. For most people this is the absolute highlight of their tour in Uganda.

Tracking is a captivation and unforgettable experience which more than repays the efforts needed to reach Bwindi and to trek through the forest. Gorilla tracking can be challenging and needs one to be reasonable fit before undertaking to venture into the activity. Gorilla tracking starts at 8:30am and lasts from a few hours to a whole day depending on where the Gorillas where left the previous day. This means you shall have to carry you packed Lunch and enough driving water.

Once the gorillas are located, you will spend one whole hour with then and then later return to the starting point for pick up.

Then drive to Lake Bunyonyi which means a place of very many birds. This lake is the Africa’s second deepest Lake with about 900M. This is situated in the south-western part of Uganda and has about 29 islands among these include the Punishment Island. This is a beautiful place with beautiful scenery accompanied by good historical attachments. While on this lake you will do a boat cruise around the lake and visit all the 29 Islands and enjoy the cool breath of the lake.

Later relax at the lodge as wait for diner and spend and overnight.

Bird nest Lodge (Mid-Range )

Day 8: Bunyonyi — Kigali

After an early breakfast at the lodge, we will drive to Rwanda Kigali for a genocide memorial visit and then transfer to the airport for your evening flight back to your next destination.

Accommodation for tonight is not inclusive in the program but can be arranged.

Murchison River Lodge (Day 1 & 2)

Comfortable and relaxing mid-range accommodation to suit all budgets; well appointed en-suite thatched cottages, thatched safari tents each with private facilities and comfortable camping tents already set up around our shaded campsite.

Kibale Forest Camp (Day 3)

Kibale Forest Camp offers a budget friendly accommodation in the form of 7 non-self-contained tents. These are furnished with comfortable beds, a bedside table and a power outlet for charging your electrical equipment. All tents are placed under a grass thatched roof. The tents share a communal ablution block with showers and flushing toilets. No need to worry about linen as all bedding and towels are provided.

Bush Lodge (Day 4 & 5)

Queen Elizabeth NP Budget Lodge — The lodge is built along ecological principals, the bandas designed and spaced in such a way to maximize privacy and enhance the safari aspect of the lodge. Surrounded by the National Park and bordering the Kazinga channel.

The Haven Buhoma Community Lodge (Day 6)

The lodge’s spacious site lies above Buhoma village, a 5-minute drive from the main road, and this elevated location guarantees best views across Bwindi Impenetrable National Park/ Haven offers 2 beautifully designed twin/double cottages and 1 family cottage, all self-contained (en suite) and merging simple elegance with local materials.
